How's It Hanging?
By: Cari Thomas

What wood you do to be the hostess with the mostess at your next party? Rather than cluttering up the space with tables, create a hanging table for appetizers or drinks. Not only does it create less clutter, but it just looks cool. We used a natural wood for the base, but if you're feeling ambitious you could paint it, wallpaper it or even put a tablecloth on it. Any wooden surface will do as long as it has an even surfaced top (an old door or a piece of driftwood could be fun). If you like to live large, you could even hang a big piece of wood from some trees and use it for a picnic table. We think it will for sure make your guests "hang around" a little bit longer.
Materials Needed:
- Round Wood Plywood
(you can get it at the hardware
store already cut in the round shape) - Roll of Sisal Rope
- Utility Knife
- Drill
- Drill Bit that Matches the Width of the Rope
- Eye Hook
- Ruler
-
Pencil
Step One:
Measure 3 holes with even space in between each one, about an inch from the edge of the wooden surface.

Step Two:
Drill holes with the same sized bit as your rope in your pre-marked spaces.

Step Three:
Drill hole in your overhang or ceiling or wherever you are going to hang the table from (I borrowed my husband for this one). Make sure that you choose a secure surface so that it can support the weight of the table. Insert your eye hook.

Step Four:
Measure and cut three pieces of rope the length, plus an extra two feet for your knot, that you would like your table to hang.

Step Five:
Thread all three ropes through the eye hook and tie all three ropes into a knot at the top, making sure that the table is hanging evenly.

Step Six:
Put something fun on it and enjoy.
