Maybe you think that offshore oil platforms and protecting the environment don't mix. But Dr. Milton Love, a research biologist at UCSB, suggests that the platforms might actually be havens for overfished marine species. The theory is a result of 14 years of research, and makes him a fish out of water to environmentalists with whom he usually agrees. He'll discuss Oil Platforms as Fish Habitats on Wednesday evening at Santa Barbara's Museum of Natural History.
For the platforms or against them, educating ourselves about the environment is our best shot at protecting it. So mix it up a little bit - see what Dr. Love has to say.
